Sahwoo mohkaak tsi ma taas is an Indigenous focused support program whose goals are to increase access to justice for Indigenous peoples.  Helping people understand how to use the legal system to reach their goals, providing collaborative legal services within the context of Indigenous culture and connecting individuals to culture in ways that support healing and wellbeing throughout an individual’s journey within the justice system.

Inii Moyis (“Buffalo Lodge”) Cultural Room at Calgary Legal Guidance

On September 16, 2022, Calgary Legal Guidance was gifted a blessing and name of our Indigenous Cultural Room at our downtown office location by Elder Casey Eagle Speaker. Inii Moyis is a space for clients, volunteers and staff to reflect upon the story of the Buffalo and to find our strength to get through difficult challenges.

Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta (CPLEA)

If you’ve been wronged at work, you’ve got rights.

The Workers’ Resource Centre helps Alberta workers understand their rights, access benefits, and file complaints and appeals with employment-related agencies, such as Employment Standards, Employment Insurance (EI), the Alberta Human Rights Commission, Canada Pension Plan – Disability (CPP-D), and Alberta Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH). We support workers experiencing job loss, lost wages, workplace discrimination, injury, illness and disability, and provide assistance to ensure workers’ basic needs are met. Our services are free of charge to Alberta workers.

Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta (CPLEA)

The Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta (CPLEA) is a public legal education organization dedicated to making information about the law available in readable and understandable language for Albertans. Through a variety of approaches (web, print, presentations, and answering questions) they help educate the public to enable them to make better decisions about many aspects of their daily lives.
