Calgary Legal Guidance offers free lawyer services through summary advice clinics at our office and around the city.
These services are offered through our Indigenous Articling student, which is a student lawyer in their final year before being called to the bar. The summary advice clinics are offered in partnership with the Aboriginal Friendship Centre and Metis Nation of Alberta.
Sahwoo Mohkaak Tsi Ma Taas has recognized the barriers in the justice system for Indigenous people, in which Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and elders will be present as a guide.
Sahwoo Mohkaak Tsi Mah Taas also recognizes the need for outreach services, so if you are looking into bringing CLG services to your community such as Legal Education Presentations, Summary Legal Advice clinics, and ID clinics, please call us.
Sahoo Mohkaak Tsi Ma Taas (Before Being Judged)
The Sahwoo Mohkaak Tsi Ma Taas program employs a full-time Liaison whose goal is seeking equal justice for Indigenous people. CLG is making an effort to build trust with Indigenous people through the guidance of Treaty 7 elders and a Treaty 6 liaison. We can guide you through:
- Social Benefit and Advocacy Program and its various services.
- Homeless Outreach Services.
- Family Law Services
- Elder Law Legal Services
- Interpreting the legal system
If you find yourself needing legal help, please seek out these Indigenous focused legal clinics. We also offer many other clinics around the city. Please contact us about them.
Every second Wednesday during the community feast.
